Anybody done any optimizing for the basic A1200 + BPPC + BVPPC setup ?

By default the OS4 kickstart loads a lot of useless things that consume valuable memory and will never get used, and on the classic every megabyte is expensive.

eg. USB support, in most cases will be unused since it is unlikely to be available but does consume resources.
Some odd filesystems that are not of much use.
Many P96 video card drives,these take a lot of memory for nothing.

So the question. A boot config file that gives max available mem would be great.

Not only it will save valuable ram, but will also speed up booting a bit.

You are better off doing this yourself progressively (ie one or two items at a time) (and keeping a backup of the qworking setup) as everones setup varies considerably, even more so on Classic.

That much differs on a classic?!
I am not saying about supporting all sorts of hardware, I am saying about basic system it was designed for.
And that is A1200 + BPPC + BVPPC on IDE HDD, nothing else (if someone has extra stuff it can be enabled later)
Of course we can go the hard way and kill item by item and see where we get

There is an Optimization thread here that goes into a lot of detail and this topic is covered. A minimal kernel saves just a small amount (5 MB) on an A4000T setup, but you will find more suggestions if you read the thread
