OS4.1FE differences booting from CD or from installed on HD

Before i install OS4.1FE on my HD i wanted to play around from CD first. I made an additional user_startup in my old s: directory to take care of my existing folders etc, which i launch manually
I observed that a number of programs did not work probably because they open on specific custom screens and maybe because these are in higher resolution than what the on-CD screen prefereces propose.
Can i direct my additional user_startup to make those screens available?
How?

The "Final Edition" install CD is using graphics drivers that are limited in resolution and features.
This was necessary because the original free drivers will not work with any RadeonHD cards above the 4000 series. If the CD had shipped with the original drivers then anyone with newer graphics cards would have been unable to boot to the CD.
It is expected that after installing "Final Edition", the user would then go to AmiStore and install newer drivers. I believe there was a page describing this in the "Final Edition" installer. That is also a great time to update to the latest drivers if they have not already purchased them.
It might also be due to these additional programs expecting libraries or other support files that are not present on the install CD image.
Have Fun!

Thanks
I'l take the plunge sooner then and install OS4.1FE on my HD
Happily i had spare space on my HD and with Media toolbox created an additional partition.
I copied the arguments (SFS/02 blocks of 1024 etc) from an existing non bootable partition and saved this.
Presently i did choose for the additional partition to not make it bootable because this seems safer to me
I would like to end up with a bootable 4.1 update 6 existing partition ( in higher priority , set to 0 now) and will later set the new OS4.1FE
in lower priority (-2 correct?)
When i have customized te second same as 4.1 Update 6 i will change the priorities.
Hope this all is sound thinking.
Presently however an ">info" on my new partition gives me
DH3: Not a DOS disk
What is the next step ?

I suppose you have formatted your new partition. Right ?
If not, here is the next step !

Of course,
It must have been years that i used the command
seems to be the only dos command where help is missing
9.Amiga OS 4:> format ?
DEVICE=DRIVE/K,NAME/K,OFS/S,FFS/S,INTL=INTERNATIONAL/S,NOINTL=NOINTERNATIONAL/S,DIRCACHE/S,NODIRCACHE/S,LN=LONGNAME/S,NOICONS/S,QUICK/S,NOVERIFY/S,REQ/S,WIPE/S:
There is a gui format too, i recall was easier to use, but there is no dh3: icon showing up atm.
Isn't there something i didn't do with mediatoolbox that makes the icon visible?

If there is no icon on the WB then:
1) The partition is not marked as "Automount" in MTB; or
2) The whole device (meaning ALL the partitions on it) is not mounted at boot time. If that is the case then you need to use MTB to set which drive is the last (MTB offers this automatically, you only have to say "Yes").

Would my other partitions' icons show up then? They do

I did not get this requester,
- after editing the last partition i click on ok_accept changes
- i come back to the main window & get the obvious choice to click on "save to disk" button
- i click, then get a rather scaring requester asking "do you really want to save the current setup to disk"
hitted yes_save
No new icon appears
Going to reboot
edit:
OK rebooted : no new disk icon appearing
I don't find anything where i can "set which drive is the last"
Only thing i see i could do is using the dropdown menu
i did chose to save the profile as text
/* RigidDiskBlock. */
ST350082 9QM0 SD25: disk = sii3512ide.device
Unit = 0
BytesperBlock = 512
/* Physical drive characteristics */
Cylinders = 20349441
Heads = 3
Sectors = 16
Interleave = 1
/* Logical drive characteristics */
MinCyl = 43 ; MaxCyl = 20349440
CylinderBlocks = 48
RDBlow = 0 ; RDBhi = 2063
HiLun = TRUE
HiID = FALSE
HiDrive = TRUE
Reselect = TRUE
Synchronous = FALSE
#
this seems to concern the whole HD though
my last partition is only 4365363 cylinders

SFS\02 block size should be 512 and not anything else.

noted.
I also did read elsewher to avoid SFS\02 & use SFS\00
http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum/v ... ic_id=6796
I bought my system fully configured that way though (2 partitions both SFS\02 & blocksize 1024)
It gave me no problems since first use 19/10/2013
Edit2:
After setting blocksize to 512 and saving the configuration as RDB mountlist the icon appeared and i was able to format the partition

I just installed FE, and I feel like I'm back to my 1986 Amiga1000!
Getting my 1920x1200 (or whatever) screen back would be a big help. I saw a line (not a page) about reinstalling one's licensed driver, but I haven't been able to figure out how. I expected to find it someplace in my saved System: files, but no luck so far.
Also disconcerted to discover that I can't use my browsers. Well, I can probably fix that; while I was waiting for Ubuntu (so glad I have that today!) to load, it occurred to me that I can probably find a New Connection Wizard somewhere, but I don't remember having to use that with my SAM460 or my X1000 when I first used them.
