Problems with MassStorage V53.17

Hi,

I'm having a few problems with my external USB devices, since the update to the new Mass Storage device. I'm still sorting out the details and will post more when I have more information, but there's one thing straight off the bat I'll query.

I have an external Seagate Expansion USB3 1 TB drive. It has a couple of JXFS partitions on it. Now, when I select the drive icon, write click and go "Information", it reports the handler as L:CrossDosFileSystem. The other partitions are SFS/02, and report the handler as Smartfilesystem 1.290.

Is that right? My HD partitions all report JXFileSystem 4.34 as their handler, as does my un-updated Sam460 when I plug the USB drive into that.

Or perhaps now that JXFS is no longer supported, it has been incorporated under CrossDOS as an "alien" filesystem?

*Edit: Just some extra info:

My system is A1-XE 800 mhz.
The USB interface is a USB 2 card chipset ALI - M5273 A1

The SAM is a SAM460, motherboard USB

JXFS is still supported and will continue to be supported for some time.

I'm not sure what the issue is because no beta testers reported any similar problems.

Unfortunately I changed all my externals to use the NTFileSystem3G handler which is reported correctly, they are either 1TB or 3TB and I don't partition them - sorry, not alot of help here. I'd rig one up now but they have too much data on them. Think I'm going to have to keep a couple around just for this purpose going forward.

I always use JXFS on all my MB partitions and never had a problem with them, I only went to NTFS recently because it handled my DVD9 images created from my i7 laptop and it didn't make sense to copy 5-8GB images to the Amiga to put on a JXFS storage device ;)

Thanks, although it seems to be back showing JXFileSystem as the handler!
Odd...

But I'm getting alot of incosistent behaviour with USB.

I suspect my PCI card might be causing the problem. I have ordered an NEC one. I tried a VIA card I had lying around, but my A1 wouldn't even boot.

OK, I have now installed a card based on an NEC chipset.

With my previous ALI card, with heavy data transfer to NTFS, a USB0:Busy icon would pop-up on Workbench. At this point, the light on the USB drive would continue flashing, but the A1 HDD light would stop, and the transfer would end.

With the NEC card, I sometimes see the USB0:Busy icon pop-up on Workbench, but so far it soon disappears and the transfer continue.

I've not seen this behaviour before with other filesystems?
