Some programs eat much memory (SOLVED!)

I happen to notice that some programs like Odyssey, tend to eat up a lot of RAM.

My point? Could this be due to the nature of AmigaOS in the way it handles memory? Is it possible to change this for a future kernel, to let AmigaOS focus more on GPU and its' video RAM, rather than the main RAM?

Would be nice to see yet another updated kernel where AmigaOS moves away from using too much ordinary RAM and CPU power, to let GPU and its' video RAM handle much of the process, saving a lot of CPU and ordinary RAM. I think that would be very good.

Can it be done? :)

There is nothing broken which needs fixing.

You should read http://wiki.amigaos.net/index.php/Exec_ ... Allocation and get educated on how AmigaOS handles memory.

Thank you so much for the guide, Ssolie :) I'll take a close look on it :) Might be something really useful there to learn.

I managed to solve the problem with Odyssey eating too much memory. I had to remove everything that was related to the old OWB, also the Reaction-based OWB variant, and install from scratch the latest Odyssey, copying my bookmarks. That solved my problem, and now it doesn't crash and causes a memory leak. No more! Problem solved!

I can even edit blogs in Blogspot with Odyssey!

I suppose this CLOSED this thread.
