CrossMAC and ExFAT

We have CrossDOS für FAT32 support, it's missing ExFAT support right now. The limitations of FAT32 (mainly the max. 4 GB file size) become more and more annoying, so for my external drives I'm using NTFS or ExFAT. Of course, NTFS support would be nice as well, and there are attempts on that, afaik. But ExFAT support would be a good thing as it's getting more and more popular.

And then, a native version of CrossMAC would also be a good idea. Especially as there already is a 68k version, this might not seem an impossible thing, one would think.

What do you think?

I second your opinion about ExFAT and think it would be nice to have and useful.
About NTFS support, AFAIK there is need to pay royalities to MS.
About CrossMac, it is not free software either I suppose..and speaking just for myself, I am not sure there is a need for it nowadays.

Same for ExFAT.
I'd rather see F2FS support. It's new, but it is specifically designed for flash drives and is open source. I'd be surprised if Windows support didn't turn up, and I'd quite happily use it on all my flash drives.

This is the first time I ever hear or read of of ExFAT so it can't be all that popular? As regards to NTFS suffice to say that there is work being done in that direction

@salass00:
SDXC and Memory Sticks XC cards are pre-formatted with exFAT file system, it will pop up sooner or later.

Still it would be nice to be able to read more filesystems then less.

@Kicko
The same as will be good to have more developers than less, who will do that new code

But as all limited resources, better to choice most popular one, and in our case its 100% NTFS.

I agree on that.
Once we have a public release of the file system API, SDK, testing tools, etc. it is my hope 3rd party developers will be interested in doing the work involved versus relying on the dev team alone. Amiga file systems have been a convoluted mystery for far too long and I want to try and end that.
