Another flaw in AmiDock.

It should not be possible to open more than one SubDock at the same time.

i.e. Opening one dock when another is already should close the first.

At present it looks untidy and clunky.

I happen to disagree.

I frequently want more than one subdock open e.g. when changing the layout or the screen resolution, to make sure they are positioned as I want them in relation to each other and to the main dock, and that they don't overlap.

But of course, this could be a relevant option. As could also the choice of whether a subdock should automatically close after you select an icon from it.

Would you have used smartbutton by CentaurZ you would not have to worry about re-positioning your subdocks (it would have been automatic)

But I agree that in some circumstances it's an advantage to be able to open two subdocks at the same time... But in some other it's not

I see - I need to check it out some time.

But as an OS 4 betatester, I first and foremost focus on the built-in tools and features and their optimal behaviours, so if I think AmiDock is missing a feature, my main goal is to try to get it added there.

Why install third party software if it can be done "internal"?

That is not to bring down the work of CentaurZ.

The internal is probably what most people uses or sees first time they use amidock and learn. I would like to see it fixed too And if theres bugs ofcourse fix them too.

What I hate and looks untidy is subdocks not appearing relevant to the main icon clicked on in the dock. They should self align. As it stands if you change WB resolution after installing the OS, then all the subdocks are out of whack. This should not happen, the user should not have to try and reset them. Which is nigh on impossible to do perfeclly like the AmiDock installer does. AmiDock should display the docks at relative positioning, not absolute.

Well, from my point of view, i haven't noticed such a problem that much from an all-round perspective, but i agree that AmiDock is limited and not perfect. It could be more up-to-date, a lot more stylished and smarter. I'm not a programmer or a coder, but a general user, so i don't know the technical problem side of it.

Having many useful subdocks are essential, yes, but the way to handle them could be a lot smarter, as to speak of the icons for the tools and programs to use. They have to match with the overall system you use, to not look untidy and messy. I love having a TIDY and CLEAN, straightforward system to use. I don't like mess.

But who knows? Perhaps there will be a brand NEW Dock system to use in AmigaOS 4.2? Let see what Ssolie says about that, shall we?

Most irritating thing about Amidock is that after a screenmode change, the subdocks do not line up with the originator icon.

context menus in AmiDock are a little of a pain too.. first click on an icon and then drag the mouse pointer away, then go back to the icon in question and use the right mouse-button to access the context menu, or click on an empty area of a Dock -which might be difficult if the dock has the dragbar disabled- and subsequently use the RMB on the icon in question.. a little too fiddly that is, IMHO..
