Amigaone g3-se, strange boot behaviour from cd
Posted: Thu Mar 21, 2013 8:06 pm
hello,
my set up is:
a1g3se
radeon 9200 agp
muse 5.1 pci
usb nec pci
sii3112 pci
40gb ide hd on primary onboard ide, master
dvdrw ide on primary onboard ide, slave
secondary ide disabled in uboot
onboard usb disabled in uboot
sii3112 port 0, sata 160gb hd
sii3112 port1, sata dvdrw
uboot booting priority: first, ide dvdrw, second sata dvdrw, third sata hd, the ide hd is empty, not formatted yet
strange behaviour:
If I try to boot from an installation cd, be it aos4.0, aos4.1.0 or aos4.1.1, when I put the cd in the ide dvdrw, the boot is from the cd itself, long kicklayout loading with plenty of cd activity
if I put the cd in the sata dvdrw, the Amiga starts booting from the hd, you can read it as soon it starts loading the slb, and the kicklayout loading is pretty fast, no dvdrw led activity, cd doesn't spin. then the splash screen last a little longer and the dvdrw start spinning, reading the cd, and starts booting. in the end I get a cd boot, but it is with kicklayout and drivers from the hd, hence is not a real clean cd boot.
I have considered that maybe uboot has no time enough to recognize the sata dvdrw (infact I read on screen just the sata hd specs before the boot starts, but no sata dvdrw specs) so I have made a setenv sii3112ide_timeout 30, saveenv, to give the maximum amount of time for recognition (as adviced in the docs in ide_drivepack) but no success.
what can I do?
regards
ps, my uboot is version 1.1.4
