Hi All

Just a quick post to say that I successfully booted and installed both CruxPPC 2.7a and MintPPC 11 on the X1000. Both were straightforward and I will post instructions in the next day or so.

I have also tried Fedora 16 but I'm having problems with the installer not being able to find the initrd even though I can load it - will keep working on this one. I also intend to try Gentoo, Finnix and Ubuntu over the weekend :D

I used the provided vmlinux39 kernel which has 2D/3D support to boot both CRUX and MintPPC.

Works very well with them :D

I just PM'd Trevor with the preliminary instructions - I need to test them again to make sure they are making sense :)

However we don^t have there hardware3D only software3D.When we use gldrivers we get a kernelpanic.
I think in Crux or MintPPC is it the same,but I let myself be happy to teach

Hi Dave

Good news :) I was able to install Gentoo by chrooting from my existing Debian install on the X1000 and booting with Darren Stevens' vmlinux39 kernel. It was pretty much as per Gentoo ppc64 handbook.

Another install to document when I stop playing with the X1000 :D

@PatW

Hoho! Wel done and very interesting!

Did you find a CFLAGS optimized for the PA6T or did you use a generic PPC64+Altivec one?
