It worked for me.
edit : it's just LC_ALL that you have to change to "LC_ALL=de_DE.UTF-8"

My Live Remix DVD arrived today ... but I get an error when I try to boot the live DVD. At CFE, after I enter the instructions to boot the DVD, I get the message:
Code: Select all
Loading: Failed
Could not load atapi0.1:bootdvd0.1 File not found
My DVD is at Unit0 (CFE reports: "ATAPI unit 0: Optical drive").
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Steve
EDIT: I have solved it! A "show devices" command from CFE shows my DVD is actually "atapi0.0"
So changing the boot command to
has worked! Might be worth adding this to the documentation?

? - It's already in the copy I have - on page 2 - we included the bootdvd0.0 file for just this situation.

I should have been clearer! By "documentation", I meant the single A4 sheet which comes inside the DVD case (at least, it did with mine). Just a line here about checking the unit number would have helped. You can't easily get to the full installation guide until you have booted into Ubuntu, which of course I couldn't do.
Other than that, I am delighted with the installation! I can even get the Zotero (bookmarking) add-on to work with Firefox, which is a plus.

Until an official fix is out, I made an iso that has all the information (PDF and 1 page instruction sheet) as well as several of the stable kernels available on the DVD prior to boot -- for reading/printing on a running system and to load a CF card. Since the original was sold by Amigakit, I guess I can't just offer it freely. So in the Valley-speak lexicography this statement falls under, "Jus' sayin'."

Ahhh... as you said you had just received it, I assumed you had the latest version of the DVD where there is a copy of the documentation in the root of the disc, as other people had mentioned this problem of accessing it. My apologies.
Glad you are enjoying it though!

The retail X1000 has HDD as unit 0, not my decision. So the guide included is to tell you how to boot it that way.

Hi,
The Ubuntu longterm kernel 3.13.12 for the A-EON Live Remix DVD is available.
Download:
kernel-3.13.12-1-x1000-ubuntu-ppc64.tar.bz2
You can boot the new kernel 3.13.12 with your Live Remix DVD with following commands:
Code: Select all
CFE> ramdisk -addr=0x24000000 -fs=iso atapi0.1:casper/powerpc64/initrd
CFE> setenv bootargs "root=/dev/ramdisk file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet ro splash --"
CFE> boot -elf -noints -fatfs cf0:vmlinux-3.13.12
