I tested 5.5rc5 with my Dawicontrol SCSI board... It works now with 8 GB Ram !!!-)
I also digged up a RTL 8169 SCSI board which had the same problem... Works now, too!
What has been changed in 5.5 to make this miracle possble...?-)

Hi Roland,
Great news!

Many thanks for testing! I’d like to figure out which patch solved the issue with your PCI cards. Could you also please test the
alpha1 kernels?
New:
- X5000/20 and X5000/40: Default kernel (uImage-5.5) with the CoreNet DMA patch by Mike Rapoport
- X5000/20 and X5000/40: Additional kernel (uImage-5.5-dma) with the latest DMA updates and with the memblock patch by Christoph Hellwig
- X5000/20 and X5000/40: both kernels: CONFIG_SCSI_SYM53C8XX_DMA_ADDRESSING_MODE=1
Thanks,
Christian

Both uImage-5.5 and uImage-5.5-dma worked with my SCSI (tested a HD and a scanner) and RTL 8169 cards. uImage-5.5 gave an error message concerning some applet before it loaded the desktop completely, but after canceling it I was able to access a SCSI disk and internet normally.

Hi Roland,
Thanks a lot for testing! Now, we know that your SCSI cards work since the alpha1 of kernel 5.5. Could you update and close the
bug report?
Thanks,
Christian
