Please try the live USB version: ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 LTS Live USB. OK, I know it's ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 but you can upgrade it to 16.04.5 later.

Download: X5000_Ubuntu_16.04.1_Live_USB-3.img

Thanks! I will have a look on them... It is possble that my earlier 16.04 installation was originating from one of those. Unfortunately an unsuccesful update process somewhat corrupted it, so it is not wise to use it for an upgrade anymore.

It is better to use Julian's latest images instead of these old ubuntu MATE 16.04 USB images. ;-) Please follow Julian's instructions.
