@Xeno 74 no idea?
  1. Choose the item System Settings from the Unity Launcher
  2. Choose the icon Language Support
  3. Click on the button Install/Remove Language...
  4. Choose German from the list
  5. Click on the button Apply Changes. Thereafter the Live Remix distribution downloads a lot of packages.
  6. Drag Deutsch (Deutschland) to the first place
  7. Click on the button Apply System-Wide
  8. Click on the tab Regional Formats
  9. Choose in the drop down menu Deutsch (Deutschland)
  10. Click on the button Apply System-Wide
Note: Changes take effect next time you log in.

Have a lot of fun with the Live Remix distribution. :)

No Thomas, don't reinstall Ubuntu.

I had the same problem with french locale. Nothing worked with the menu settings and all my menus were in english.

What I made was editing a file. I don't remember exactly which one but it was maybe /etc/defaults/locale.

In this file, I had an english locale, I just replaced it with fr-FR.UTF-8.

Here is my /etc/default/locale, what is yours ?

zzd10h@X1000:~$ cat /etc/default/locale
# File generated by update-locale
LANGUAGE="fr:en"
LC_NUMERIC="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LANG="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_TIME="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="fr_FR.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="fr_FR.UTF-8"

Guillaume i edited my /etc/default/locale with gedit but when i save it i get this message "Error moving file: Permission denied"

open a shell and type

Code: Select all

sudo nedit /etc/default/locale
and enter your root password.

It worked for me.

edit : it's just LC_ALL that you have to change to "LC_ALL=de_DE.UTF-8"
