The alpha7 of kernel 5.6 has been released for testing.

New:

• X5000 and X1000: compat_ioctl-v1patch for solving the issue with the avahi daemon
• X1000: Support for new SanDisk High (>8G) CF cards added to the pata_pcmcia driver. We can use new SanDisk High (>8G) CF cards in our onboard CF card slot with the official Linux kernel now. Thereby we don't need the pcmcia-v3 patch anymore.
• Linux Git log
• Phoronix articles, reviews and news stories covering Linux 5.6

I released the alpha8 of kernel 5.6 for the X1000 and X5000 today.

• X5000 and X1000: compat_ioctl-v2 patch for solving the issue with the avahi daemon (Thanks to Arnd Bergmann)
• DRM fixes (drm-next-2020-02-07)
• Linux Git log
• Phoronix articles, reviews and news stories covering Linux 5.6

Kernel 5.6 Alpha8 is running fine on the AmigaOne X5000. The Patch works and cpu usage is back to normal!

Hi All,

I released the RC1 of kernel 5.6 for the X1000 and X5000 today.

New:

• X1000: You no longer need an additional patch for compiling a vanilla kernel for the AmigaOne X1000.
• X5000: cyrus_5.6-2.patch
• X5000 and X1000: The compat_ioctl-v2 fix for solving the issue with the avahi daemon has been added to the official kernel source code. We don't need the compat_ioctl-v2 patch anymore.
• PowerPC fixes 5.6-2

Here is the RC2 of kernel 5.6 for testing.

New:

• X5000 and X1000: CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_LIMIT (Limit matching allows you to control the rate at which a rule can be matched: mainly useful in combination with the LOG target and to avoid some Denial of Service attacks).
  
  For example:
  

  Code: Select all

  iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport 22 -m state 
  --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT 
  
  iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport 22 -m state 
  --state NEW -m limit --limit 3/hour --limit-burst 3 -j ACCEPT 
  
  iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport 22 -j DROP
