You need the libstdc++-4.8-dev_4.8.1-2ubuntu1~10.04.1_powerpc.deb for Arctic Fox on Ubuntu 10.04 additionally.

I uploaded it: libstdc++-4.8-dev_4.8.1-2ubuntu1~10.04.1_powerpc.deb

Further packages from the Ubuntu toolchain repository:

Maybe you need Python 2.7 for compiling Arctic Fox. I had to compile Python 2.7 because Arctic Fox depends on Python 2.7 but it wasn't difficult to compile it.

Compiling Python:

Code: Select all

./configure --prefix=/usr

Code: Select all

make

Code: Select all

sudo make install

Solution: about:config - Search: useragent.override.youtube.com and delete the value.
It seems there is a fix.

Link: gitlab.com/sebaro/ViewTube

You can configure the user agent with about:config - Search: useragent.override.youtube.com and set the value to Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 10_2_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/602.4.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0 Mobile/14D27 Safari/602.1.

After that YouTube uses the mobile version of their site (https://m.youtube.com) and this website works with the add-on ViewTube.

Hello everyone,

ViewTube no longer loads videos with the VLC Web Plugin. I have updated ViewTube, but this does not solve the problem. Do you have the same problem?

Thanks,
Christian

Does not work here, either. VLC gives just a long error string.

The same issue is seen also with other browsers. The latest (2024.07.09) ViewTubeTest script fixes the problem!

Thank you for the hint! Have you already tested the new ViewTubeTest script 2024.07.09?
Could you please post the download link to the new ViewTubeTest script 2024.07.09?

Thanks

Yes, I tested it with ArcticFox, Interweb and PaleMoon.

http://sebaro.pro/viewtube/ (there is a download button for the ViewtTubeTest at the top of the page, between the ViewTube and ViewTuble+ buttons).

YouTube videos in HD with ViewTube and Arctic Fox

Installation instructions
  1. Download the VLC web browser plugin: libvlcplugin.so (32-bit).
  2. Copy the file "libvlcplugin.so" to the directory /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/.
  3. Start Arctic Fox and install the add-on Greasemonkey version 3.31.4
  4. Restart Arctic Fox
  5. After that, add the ViewTubeTest script to Greasemonkey
  6. Then you have to activate the VLC plugin. You can activate it via Menu Arctic Fox - Add-ons - Plugins.
  7. You need to configure ViewTube via the 3 dots under the video. I use the embed video with Embed and play it with VLC.
