Re: Spectre660's Linux downloads for the Sam440/460
No one has reported on the Sam460ex 3.16 kernel that I did almost a month ago .
Without being able to test it myself or a report as to whether it works or not there is not any point in continuing for Sam460ex.
But will make a Sam440ep ramdisk to try installing .
Currently installing with new Sam440ep Ramdisk installer .

I've been busy for a couple of weeks with other stuff, will try to reinstall Lubuntu 12.xx/14.XX and try those 3.16 kernels. If you don't want to continue sam460ex support you can enlight me (if not too much difficult) how to build such kernels/ISOs. I have a PC (windows/linux/...) too so if it helps for building such files (kernel/ISO).Spectre660 wrote:No one has reported on the Sam460ex 3.16 kernel that I did almost a month ago .

Re: Spectre660's Linux downloads for the Sam440/460
It Is not that I dont want too but it is getting harder without being able to test. This includes the ramdisks for the installers as there is a size limitation.
You can have several seperate Linux installations on the first hard drive once the total number of partitions including the linux ones does not exceed 16 .
I have 3 installations at a time. The trick is get the bootstrap to point to the correct root partition before rebooting the installer. except for the installation using the last partition.
You can do this by starting a shell from the installer options before it reboots. whn the installation is done select go back instead of rebooting.
You will get the menu options inculding start a shell .
Then edit the menu.lst file and make sure that it points to the right system partition . so if there are 7 partions before the 3 linux ones for this installation then the system partition
is sda9 (7+2).you have to make sure you know how many partitions you have before starting the installation.
So in the shell
nano /target/boot/menu.lst
Then change the root=/dev/sdaX
to root=/dev/sda9
save by typing contro+X and the pressing y to save.
type quit and enter to exit the shell.
then select the option to finish the installation

Could you register your Sam440ep Flex on the Ubuntu hardware website, please? My PPC computers are already registered (AmigaOne X1000 and Sam440ep Flex).

Thanks in advance.
