Nice guide, LyleHaze!
Looks like it covers most points.
I think there was a minimum version of AmiDVD that was necessary in order to make bootable Amiga discs, does anybody remember what it is?
I have 1.49 here, and it does have the AmigaOS4 Bootable option. The one included with the OS is probably the same.
One more comment: While it may be faster to use RAM: to hold the disc contents, it might be useful to write it to, and read it from, HD instead. It makes it easy to repeat the last part of process if you make a mistake the first time, and to check afterwards what you ended up including on your disc.
Best regards,
Niels

Quoting the readme doc one should be safe with a version equal or higher 1.32

This is the part that gets me
- Doesn't support DVD-R Dual-Layer
I have a brand new spindle of 50 x DVD-R DL 8X (brand Princo) that I can't utilise for DVD9s - I knew AmiDVD didn't support it but I thought if I got an DVD Writer thats firmware was supposed to support it I'd be right as rain (think again lol); I also wanted to see if they'd be more compatiable with normal DVD Players since DVD+ isn't nice to most.
Will have to wait until they bring out a USB DL Writer for the work laptop perhaps
anyway, don't mean to derail the thread

Reduce the Data for an Recovery-Boot-Disc to 700MB or Use a DVD+R. I allways use a Workbench with 4GB max. But i have burn a DVD+R DL with AmiDVD.
The Combo BootCD (for loading the Kickstart-Files) and an USB-Stick (SFS-formatet with a Workbench) are really good.
A newer Version of amigaboot.of would make more Fun if load the Kickfiles from Fat32 or ext2 USB-Sticks.

Good guide Lyle. Well done.
One thing not to forget is that some of the other drivers were updated after the the AmigaOS 4 Update 1.5 was "First Contact" CD was pressed. They won't stop the CD from booting but it would be good to update those files as well. e.g IDE device driver etc.

I thought the onboard firmware for the drive done that and it didnt matter about the software. Unless your talking about a physical limitation of AmiDVD?

It can, I have used them on many occasions. This is why I said about firmware of drive.
Unless I was using -R's.
Its annoying though, I hate having to install and use 50 different programs, just to do one task.
This is the same on other OS's to a certain extent.

Yes it can burn DVD-Rs but not dual layered (this is in the documentation)
It can burn DVD+R dual layered because I've burnt plenty =)
Thanks for your input though Christopher
