Strange. On changing my network card from PCI to use the adapter, once I put the adapter in a compatible PCIe slot, I had to perform no software changes at all - it automatically picked it up.
Being a betatester, maybe inspect your OS4 boot logs and AddNetInterface for any clues/errors or try removing the network config saved for the connection and saving it again (just in case it cannot use the same config).

I hope you can confirm whether the Radeon 9250 works perfectly if the adapter with network card is not installed in the machine - if this is the case, then the adapter is doing something resulting in a problem with the Radeon card.
Hello
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately does the Radeon 9250 not work correct when pci adapter is out.
I am sure that my card has a fail. Perhaps in the memory.
I think I'll wait a little before I try to find another card.

Just ordered my own StarTech PCIe to PCI adapter before reading the posts in this thread again to find out that two users are having trouble with these adapters. I wonder if it is just poor build quality on some of these adapter cards which makes them not work in the X1000's of these two unfortunate owners?
Hopefully I will be lucky and get one that works like Mike Brantley's and Trevor's adapters. I'll cross my fingers when I install it and try it the first time, after it arrives in about 10 days.

I do not know, but I have tried with 2 which look exactly the same. The first does not work but it does the last one.
I never got my graphics card to work but I came across a 9200 card and it works perfectly.
Good luck with your pci adapter card

For anyone using these adapters, I would recommend to only use them with the card screwed in to the case by either its own bracket or the low profile bracket included with the (Startech) adapter. Reason being it is only attached to the motherboard via a short PCIe x1 connector which would otherwise be loose in the case, which may potentially cause the card not to work properly with the extra weight of the PCI card on top of the adapter.

just a quick note to confirm my StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000, and I did not have to do anything to get my Ethernet PCI card to work, when moved to this adapter from the motherboard PCI slot.
Now to find the latest Catweasel drivers for OS4.x. and purchase a video card that has 3D support.

Good to hear. The adapters do seem to work well with the PCI Ethernet card.
General comment: I would not attempt to install a full size card in the adapter. The weight is too heavy and the card an not be secured.

I would not use the adapter without a backplate attached to it and also screwed to the case slot cage, which is why I swapped the one that is shipped installed on the adapter, with the alternate full size slot cover that has a large section open and would work with the half-height Ethernet PCI card. I just put some electrical tape on the metal slot cover to prevent it from shorting anything out on the Ethernet card, as there are some soldered components very near the end of the card where the Ethernet port is located.
I haven't had time to test my Catweasel Mk3 Flipper card with the latest drivers, as I have been more concerned about getting my Cubic IDE setup to use the OS4.x SDK's C/C++ compiler, so I haven't taken time to work on other projects.
Very glad the PCIe to PCI adapter was "Plug & Play" with the X1000's Ethernet card.

You are braver than me! I have a hard time imagining how you can fit a normal PCI card into a PCI-Express adapter, and still have the metal faceplate correctly secured to the case.
getting my Cubic IDE setup to use the OS4.x SDK's C/C++ compiler
Does that mean you decided to try to learn C/C++??
