I had this problem when booting up
alpha6, too. Does the X1000 sometimes fail to shut down, or does it stop shutting down entirely since the
alpha5?

I normally use kernels 6.12 with Debian Sid and 6.1 with Fienix and MintPPC.
Both has no problems, it shutdowns properly.
About 7.x I am not sure, becouse I am not useng them much, only for testing. Can I try some specific version?

Have you also tested the new stable long-term kernel
5.10.271? It works for example better with the new
B650 SouthBridge than the 6.x and 7.x kernels.
I have tested kernel 5.10.271 with Precise where it worked fine. I don't recall testing it with MATE but I did test kernels 6.12.112 and 7.2.0 that booted up fine.
However I found my internet was broken so I knew something was wrong since I had no previous issues. I was connected to the router and could ping IP addresses so suspected a DNS issue. After checking online I found this command listed fails due to missing keys. DNS needed updated keys.
Code: Select all
journalctl -u systemd-resolved -b -0
In the meantime I'm back testing the new series and 7.4.0-a1 is running fine. I had an issue with 7.3.0-rc7 as my system ran of out memory when it put the monitor into standby and text corrupted. Strange. But that's past testing now.

Yes, the final kernel
7.3.0 could be interesting for you.
I was able to shut down my X1000 using the
alpha6 of kernel
7.4 on several occasions.
