So I've tested the long-term kernel 6.12.64 on my Xenial system and tested 6.19.0-rc5 on my Mate and Debian systems. All tests proved successful with no obvious issues in logs or in use. Aside from age of systems, differences would be that Xenial and Mate boot with a ram disk, while Debian does not.

Hi Hypex,

Thanks a lot for testing the RC5 of kernel 6.19 and for testing the stable long-term kernel 6.12.64.

Cheers,
Christian

Hypex,

Can you shut down your X1000 with all distributions using the RC5 of kernel 6.19?

Thanks,
Christian

Hi. So I tested shutting down kernel 6.19 RC5, four times in a row. With Fienix, Mate, Mint and Debian. All tests passed and it shut down on each distro. First time in a while I've intentionally shut it down then turned it on again, all in a row. :-D

For fun I thought I would test the RC5 on Xenial. But that turned out to be a "bad mistake pal." It actually started booting and then for some reason got stuck on the SATA. It kept getting SATA errors and tried to reset the bus. It was acting as if the cable fell out. :-?

I shut it down and up again. My drive made a strange sound then CFE immediately dropped to CLI with a memory error. I tried the menu command by hand then AmigaBoot loaded fine. However, I tried to boot my Precise, which was in working order that I use for an emergency backup, and that then also was giving SATA errors! I don't know what it is. It was like the constant shut down and turn on overheated the drive or SATA controller. I'll see how it is tonight. Strange!

So installed this on my Xenial and it is working fine. The last one didn't last long. With these frequent updates the meaning of long term will be lost. :-D

Maybe I'll try shutting it down as well. :-P

So just for fun I tried booting Xenial with the 6.19. RC5 kernel again. Booted fine! Made some complaint about fsck and mount options but apart from that it worked fine. No idea why the hardware suddenly broke last night. I even shut it down and that worked! These machines make no sense. :-?
