Hi All,

I released the alpha4 of kernel 6.16 for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs) today.

I compiled the kernels with GCC11.

Please test the alpha4.

Thanks,

I've installed the alpha 4 but still need to test. Now I have a problem with the alpha 3. I had Debian running last night when it suddenly rebooted again. Or it tried too. The fan spun up and then lowered. I shut it off the the night. I thought it may be related to GPU errors but those have cleared up in dmesg. Must have been a recent update a couple of weeks ago that fixed that. But Debian has some problem of suddenly rebooting. I haven't seen any other distros do it. :-?

Edit:
Booted Debian and it loaded ok. Currently on MATE desktop. Slightly sluggish but otherwise ok. For some reason on Debian (which would include Mint) the kernel keeps printing aqua lines of output which looks strange. I've got a serial terminal connected to monitor the situation in case Debian bombs out again.

Tested the a5 on Debian and Mint. Working fine. However, I am seeing an i2c-pasemi message about status in red, where it doesn't like some NACK status.

I ran it last night for about an hour. Did some compiling which brought system under load. System remained stable so don't know where the random resets are coming from.

Hi All,

The merge window is over. Linus Torvalds has released the RC1 of kernel 6.16 for testing yesterday.

I compiled it for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs) today.
