There have been at least four functions since 2011 because I wrote them.
Another four localised versions were added shortly afterwards.
The were available since Update 3 and are used by various system components
so that they don't all have to change hard-coded common strings for each release.

In a shell, simply run the library by typing; libs:version.library <RETURN>
and you will get to see all six of them, that is the built-in self-test.

That's interesting, the OS4 version does now have some functions as you mention. The information given about version numbers is not accurate/complete though:

OS3.5 BB1 is V44.3 and OS3.5 BB2 is V44.4. There is also nothing about OS3.9 BB3&4, OS3.1.4(.1), or OS3.2(.1). I can give a list of version numbers for these too.

Thanks, that would be handy.
Please show the version/revision and the month and year from the version strings please.

The information I had for this native PPC version libraries releasenotes file basically starts only at V50.
The previous entries in the release table were collected from various 68K fragments and the last 68K 3.1 source
we spawned OS4 from, the old records were not always kept up to date, so there may be holes such as the
releases done by H&P (3.5 - 3.9), treat anything before V50 as just a rough historical reference from the
parts and info we did have on hand to verify.

Aren't OS3.9 BB3+ unofficial? So they have no place in an official OS document.

Just because it's "official" doesn't mean it has to be blind to reality.

It's not like information like this is subject to any legal limitations.

Best regards,

OS3.9 BB4 = 45.5 (25/4/10)
OS3.1.4 = 45.194 (23/9/18)
OS3.1.4.1 = 45.194 (23/9/18) (OS3.1.4.1 does not update version.library)
