Hello,
after update to Zesty Zapus, i can't see the welcome animation anymore.
I see only a white welcome window.

Hi All,
Happy New Year!
The latest Firefox for ubuntu MATE 17.04 is the version 47.0 but it is possible to use the new version 50.1.0 from Debian Sid/experimental. It works but not perfect.
I uploaded this version.

I was able to update my ubuntu MATE 17.04 today. It's still working.

I was able to update my ubuntu MATE 17.04 PowerPC today. I got new VLC and Python packages. Updating is still possible.
Unfortunately Firefox won't updated anymore but you can use the latest Firefox from Debian Sid/experimental. It works but not perfect.

I will update my installed development version of ubuntu MATE 17.04 as long as possible. After that I will try to release an unofficial ubuntu MATE 17.04 USB img for the X5000 and X1000.

Good news!
I updated my ubuntu MATE 17.04 PowerPC today and after that the Systemd DNS service works without any problems. You don't need to edit the config file
/etc/resolv.conf anymore.

After an attempt to upgrade ubuntu 16.10 to 17.04 which failed, I installed a new 16.4 from live CD. I would like to upgrade to first 16.10 and afterwards to 17.04, but will first hear about the proper way to perform the upgrade 16.04 to 16.10.
Will this work: ?
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade
$ sudo apt-get install update-manager-core
edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades file and set the variable prompt as below:
Prompt=normal
$ sudo do-release-upgrade -d

Have upgraded 16.04 to 16.10 with few errors. like this: e: internal error, no filename for cryptsetup: powerpc. also install error with ubiquity and ubiquity-frontend-gtk.
Upgrade then 16.10 to 17.04 successfully. Most of the system function. Sound and graphics cards and various programs tested successfully.
Thanks for the wizard to upgrade to 17.04 at the beginning of this thread
