Christian,

Splitting hairs here, I know, but watching the budget. XFX ATI Radeon 6670 HD 1 GB DDR5. Should do the trick right?
I can just run it stand-alone.
<edit>
1-DVI 1 Display Port 1 HDMI
Specs:
Chipset: Radeon HD6670
Engine Clock: 800 MHz
Video Memory: 1GB DDR5
Memory Clock: 4000 MHz
Memory Interface: 128-bit
Bus: PCI-Express 2.1 x16
Stream Processors: 480
Max. Resolution: 2560 x 1600

Looks good to me, will work well for Linux? HDMI or DVI?
Let me know. Thanks Christian!

Cheers,

John

Thank you very much. I will put on order.
With this card I should run Linux connected via HDMI with no problem?

Unfortunately my monitor doesn't have a HDMI input.

Thanks for the input. The R7 250x card requires me to select Auto Detect in AOS 4.1 FE in order to be able to have 1920 x 1200 res with the 7700 monitor driver. First contact install has the 66xx monitor driver and I don't have to check the Detect Monitors Box. Weird. Anyway, thanks for the advice and I will order the 6670. Compatibility is my priority. I was running Open Suse 12.4 on my old PC before buying a Mac Mini (late 2012). I am looking forward to running Linux on my x1000. I am not a mainstream sort. Two computers in one, love it! I'll post after I get it and installed. See if Ubuntu works then. If you have other booting tricks and kernels to try with my R7 250x until then, send them my way.

Cheers!

John

Hello Christian!
Christmas in July! I'm posting with Mozilla in Ubuntu Remix. My XFX 6670 card came in. I put the R7 250x in the box for now. No room in the Inn so-to-speak. I'm on Live DVD right now. I'll install this weekend. Had a copy of Radeon HD 6670 Monitor driver so AOS config was a snap. Thanks again!

Cheers!

Hello again Christian,

Quick question and I think I am giving the answer when I ask. I have First Contact configuration on my x1000. So, I should be able to follow the instructions I printed for installing Ubuntu Remix. Then - install Ubuntu on my 80 GB IDE HD on IDE LUN 0,0. I should have no problems booting from that drive when I select 12.04 LTS in the Boot Menu, right? Once the Kernal is allocated on the CF Card, I should be able to install Linux on the IDE drive at LUN 0, correct?
<Or>
Will I have to config CFE to tell it where Ubuntu is installed?
My goal is to keep my AOS on SATA boot drive and Ubuntu on IDE boot drive.

Thanks,
John

So, :roll:

After a few hours of beating my head, I realized that my CF Card did not have an MS-DOS Partition Table, it had an Amiga Partition Table. "Filesystem Not Recognized" After that, everything is well. Hope this will help someone. I'm back in the Linux saddle again! :D
Thank you Christian, for your help and everyone involved in making this Linux Distro happen!!

239 Updates!?! Geez!

Cheers!
