@Rigo
OK, thanks. That cleared the error message, but now the Internet output windows says, in the last line:
AddNetInterface: Coudl not add route to 198.168.1.254 (Object exists)
AND Internet doesn't connect anymore.
But if I restored the DEVS:Internet/routes back to 198.168.0.1 I can connect to Internet....I'm very confused!
By the way, I just noticed that there in a Network Connection called Home.conn inside SYS:Internet/Connections/ I am not sure if that was created by the previous owner and if it may be causing some of my problem....?
What next please?

What you still could try is to remove all machines from the router and have only your SAM on it (on the first possible LAN port).
Now delete all earlier NetInterfaces and create a complete new one.
See if that does it
btw: It seems you are mixing up the router adress (192.168.0.1) and your SAM address (192.168.1.254)?
What "address space" is your router configured to use for attached machines?

As you can all see, I'm not an expert on the use of OS4.1, and I far from feeling comfortabe with it.
But I can tell, that my main problem stems from the fact this a computer that was previuosly configured to work in a different netwrok, with different settings, by the original owner.
I don't have a problem in accessing the Internet with my setup, but it is cumbersome due to the error messages that I'm getting, which didin't go away with me unpluging all other devices from teh router.
Again my problems are:
1. [error]: Could not add route from "DEVS:Internet/routes", line 4 (Network is unreachable).
2. Unable to save my Internet connection settings.
I can only guess that there is still somewhere some old files from a previous Internet connection that I can't find or remove. If I'm wrong, please forgive my ignorance, but this is why I am appealing for your help.

Sounds like your router address may be wrong.
You need to verify your router address.
You may have to look at your routers documentation to find out how.
Then use that address as the default gateway setting using Prefs/Internet .
After starting the Internet prefs tool select Routes and then type in the address of your router at the bottom where is says Default Gateway Address.
Then Click save.

My router address is 192.168.1.254
When I go to Prefs/Internet and the Internet Preferences (TCP/IP) window opens, under Interfaces (or whne highlighted) I have my netowrk connection "PPC460EX_ETH". Clicking on "Modify" brings up the Modify network interface windows with the following options or lines:
Name PPC460EX_ETH
Device driver DEVS:Networks/ppc460ex_eth.device
Device type Ethernet
Unit/Port 0
Use static IP address (blank)
IP address Blank
Subnet mask Blank
Try dynamic configuration (DHCP) Checked
Host name Blank
IP packet type Gosthed or greyed out 2048
Default Checked.
Use or Cancel
I don't see anywhere to enter gateway values.

I made 3 screen grabs, but when I try to upload them here, they don't show.
In any case, I experimented using the same settings and values in each tab or screen, and the result is that now I don't have Internet access in my SAM460EX

I'm running MorphOS 3.3, I hope I'm not offending anyone in this forum for saying that.
The address that I'm using with my OS4.1 is the same I'm using with the other machine.
