Installer picking wrong @default-dest

This is already in the Bugzilla database since May 2010, in fact there are two reports: 6479 and 6480. One for the installer and one for textclip.

Since these forums are the official place to report bugs there's really no excuse for any confirmed problem not to be fixed. The excuse that the devs & beta testers can't read all the posts on all the Amiga forums isn't going to work anymore. It's all right here on the Hyperion forums

There is no (or at least less) excuse for a problem not to be reported. Having it fixed is another matter altogether. This relies on a lot of things, such as developer availability, priorities, management decisions, time, money, etc. etc. (And several of the above are partly overlapping ).

But having it reported and recorded in Bugzilla is the important first step. In this case it had already been taken, but thanks for the reminder.

Knowing that problems have been reported and "might" be fixed is certainly more comforting than wondering if anyone has seen a problem reported on one of the other general Amiga forums. We all know there are priorities but take some comfort in the knowledge that we have done our part and made the developers aware of problems we discover.

Hi,

Okay I am just jumping into thread as I have experienced this problem, and importantly I know how to re-create everytime.

I just download the AAMP (apache/mysql, not the music player) for evaluation and waited patiently for it download, after a couple of minutes had passed the Installer opened up for me.

Part way through it tells me it needs to install something in the Contribs drawer called SystemV_IPC. So I left it on Immediate level (I later discovered the level doesn't matter) and at the end of it I was formed that it had been 'correctly installed to TextClip:'.

TextClip: is always appearing in my ASL requesters at the top along with HD, RAM, CDs and USB devices.

I can see from a quick glance that either these drawers have been just been newly created as part of the installation or have been 'touched' by new content.

Okay I can now see sysvipic.h - so I guess the installation has copied them to the correct location - the 'Installation Successful' page just seems to reporting the wrong destination path,.

Possibly the installer (because of the problems already discussed) has considered Textclip: the "default destination", but this particular script never bothered about either changing or using that for anything, but had its own means of determining where to install. Then at the end, when Installer gives its usual success message, its default destination is still Textclip: and is thus mentioned there.

I recently noticed the same problem as djrikki (although I have noticed it giving the wrong destination for a LONG time!), and your explanation makes sense!
