A1222 68k emulation

Hi, just a little post following the recent amiga announcements.. hopefully we can get an upgraded 68k emulation on the A1222.. it would make it a more unified amiga system in my view.. thanks to all parties involved and peace and love to the amiga environment.. grtz,dirk..

Is that because 68K-emulation is slow on the A1222 or is it lacking something ? Last update of Petunia on their webpage was 20 years ago

the emulation is as good as it is i guess.. but an between layer or player like an amigaforever gui for amigaos would be useful to save instances for example.. at this moment it sits somewhat in a separate box configuration.. grtz,dirk

I believe you are talking of two different things.

Benny is talking about the built-in 68k CPU emulation which lets you run OS3 programs on OS4 natively. This one is already perfect as it is. It is completely transparent and does not need instances. There is a prefs program which lets you put bad programs on an exception list, so that they do not use JIT.

You apparently mean Amiga classic chipset emulation, like UAE. AFAIK such has never been part of the OS, it was only installed as a contribution. Yes, there is probably room for improvement. But it's not the OS's primary objective to make hardware-banging classic Amiga games run on OS4.

yes AOS and emulation are fine by themselves.. its just from a users perspective to combine them somewhat together in a gui with easy settings and savings.. not necessary but maybe useful for in the future.. thanks for the responses.. grtz,dirk
