Many thanks for packaging and uploading the new BrassMonkey 33.9.1 to the MintPPC repositories. :-)

I successfully upgraded my MintPPC32 (including the new BrassMonkey 33.9.1) today.

I am posting this reply from the new BrassMonkey on MintPPC32. ;-)

I think you use MintPPC32. Correct? I updated my MintPPC32 last week and I don't have these issues.
However it could be, that new updates, after my MintPPC32 update day, are responsible for your issues.
Yes, I have MintPPC32. My installation was not up-to-date, either, but when I had today run all the available updates and created a new uInitrd, booting still halted before desktop was loaded.

If you have created a new uInitrd, too, could you please put it available on your site? I could then test whether the problem is in my uInitrd itself or somewhere else.

@mintppc

I run today all the available updates for MintPPC32. Two of them were not available, though they were listed by Synaptic:

Code: Select all

W: Failed to fetch http://incoming.ports.debian.org/buildd/packages/unstable/main/busybox_1.37.0-7_powerpc.deb
  404 Not Found [IP: 128.31.0.62 80]
W: Failed to fetch http://deb.debian.org/debian-ports/pool-powerpc/main/p/pcsc-lite/libpcsclite1_2.4.0-1_powerpc.deb
  404 Not Found [IP: 199.232.174.132 80]
But I suppose those programs are not important, and can be removed totally?

What was more serious, VLC disappeared from the 'Applications/Sound&Video' menu after the update! When I checked from Synaptic listing, 'vlc-bin' was stil installed, but 'vlc' not, and it could not be reinstalled. Can you please fix this issue...?

VLC works here after the upgrade yesterday.

Are both 'vlc' and vlc-bin' installed on your system, and can you run it from the Applications menu, not just terminal?

I also tried to install 'vlc' directly via apt and got these error messages:

Code: Select all

Unsatisfied dependencies:
vlc : Depends: vlc-plugin-base (= 3.0.21-11+mintppc2) but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: vlc-l10n (= 3.0.21-11+mintppc2) but 3.0.22~rc1-1 is to be installed
Error: Unable to satisfy dependencies. Reached two conflicting decisions:
   1. vlc-plugin-base:powerpc=3.0.21-11+mintppc2 Depends vlc-data (= 3.0.21-11+mintppc2)
but none of the choices are installable:
      - vlc-data:powerpc=3.0.21-11+mintppc2 is not selected for install
   2. vlc-plugin-base:powerpc=3.0.21-11+mintppc2 is selected for install because:

Could someone please tell me what I have done wrong...? I cannot figure it myself!

It is not installed:

Code: Select all

~$ sudo apt list --installed | grep vlc-data

WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. Use with caution in scripts.

sudo apt install vlc-data=3.0.21-11+mintppc2
sudo apt install vlc
Thanks, that did the trick!-) Should I lock in Synaptic the current version of vlc and vlc-data, to prevent this kind of issues? There is already the v. 3.0.22 of vlc-data lurking as an update... It is easy to run it accidentally with other updates.
