No X5000 uboot update from A-Eon

Post by pioneer »

I bought a second-hand X5000 from somebody in Cheyenne. It was several years ago. It has uboot version 2014.04-00137. There are some things it can't do. I'd like a later uboot version and I would pay whatever it takes.

I have emailed A-Eon using the contact information on the web page. They are the original developers of the X5000 and responsible for uboot (I guess). I also emailed Hyperion. I haven't got a reply from either one. Maybe they don't support second-hand computers. Amiga vendors have consistently bad customer service. But even if they won't do anything they could at least acknowledge that they received my emails. I've gone through this before. Every year or two I give it another try. It looks like I'm on my own.

My last resort is to try to get the update from a fellow X5000 owner. Most likely it's a program file that can be attached to an email or something. I would pay for whatever expense and bother it takes. In fact I'm offering $50 by Venmo to anyone who will provide a 2016 or later uboot.

You can try contacting A-Eon's Steven Solie: https://www.solie.ca/index.html.

Given that A-EON/AmigaKit have delegated the AmigaOne sales to Amedia France, I recently tried contacting Laurent with exactly the same request. He replied that the latest official X5000 UBoot firmware was from 2018; anything newer is betatester stuff. So perhaps if you reach out to Amedia, they might be able to provide you with the 2018 version.

Yes. One more reason to try out Amedia, perhaps they will be interested in improving the tarnished Amiga dealer reputation.
