OK, re-partitioned my hard drive & re-installed Fienix. I edited /etc/network/interfaces, did /sbin/dhclient enp6s6 & was able to get on the internet. Problem is, I lose it all with every restart. I use a static address on a wired connection & I think thats whats messing me up with Fienix. I did edit interfaces with iface enp6s6 inet static followed by the IPs, but that didn't work.

Hi Sundown,

If dhclient works then you can configure dhcp instead of static in the file /etc/network/interfaces.

I did the edits again, seems I did it in the right order this time & the net was still working after a restart, real test will be tomorrow with a cold start.
Thanks guys for all the help.

PS: Network settings still good this morning, now the real work begins :-)

Is that a missing package from the Fienix repository? If so I can add it.

Maybe you could add the package libdvd-pkg.
I was able to install the package libdvd-pkg 1.4.2-1-1 (DVD-Video playing library -installer) on Fienix today. After that it automatically compiled the needed libraries for playing DVDs.

Hi Christian
Gramps has been added to the Fienix software repository.
When install gramp I got a error on loading the osmgps modules.
I try to install the missing dependencies I got this.
Everything else in Gramp works as far as I can see.

Hi
Does the compiz configuration program in Fienix Works?
It doesn't start here. Give no errors.

Hi Musa,

Yes, it works. I successfully installed it (package: compizconfig-settings-manager). You can enable Compiz with MATE Tweak (Menu - Preferences - MATE Tweak - Windows - Window manager - Select window manager: Compiz (Advanced GPU accelerated desktop effects). Then you can configure Compiz with the CompizConfig Settings Manager (Menu - Preferences - CompizConfig Settings Manager).

Cheers,
Christian

Hi
Thanks for info.
I have installed all compiz packages.
compizconfig-settings-manager does not work with me.
It won't start up. have tried to reinstall without success so I do not use compiz.
Cannot configure it.

Have you seen any error messages about compizconfig-settings-manager in the log files? Did you start it via the MATE-Terminal (command: ccsm)?
