Hi Srtest,
I compiled the RC7-2 without the AMDGPU driver and firmwares today. Please test it.

Kernel 4.9
Re: Kernel 4.9
Didn't work.
This means I'm letting go of this for now. The remaining hint is that there is a difference for me between using amdgpu and radeon - the amdgpu version gets me to the black screen of not waking up the gpu that isn't followed by anything (just like the last time the firmwares caused issues until you replaced them), while the radeon version doesn't even get me to that black screen and is stuck at "booting....".

Thank you for testing! Darren needs still a serial log from you. Could you please post it?Srtest wrote:Didn't work.

@All
Today, I released the new RC8 for testing.
New:
- Nemo patch 4.9-3
- AMDGPU support removed because it doesn't work on our X1000 currently
- The 4.9-rc8 announcement
- Linux 4.9-rc8 Kernel Released -- phoronix
- Linux Git log
- Phoronix articles, reviews and news stories covering Linux 4.9

@zappa2009
Please test it with your R7-250X.
Cheers,
Christian
Re: Kernel 4.9
I just tested 4.9-RC8 but the booting just stops at "Booting Linux via __start() 0x000000000000000000 ... "xeno74 wrote:

I tried to boot using the other newer kernels: All fail
last working kernel here is 4.7.10
Linux Mate 16.04.1 LTS
AmigaOne X1000
4GB RAM
Gigabyte R9 270X GFX-card
Tested with AMD Sapphire Radeon 250 does not work either.

Thank you for testing the RC8. Could you please post a serial log? I will discuss this problem in the A-EON Linux team.
Thanks,
Christian
Re: Kernel 4.9
mmh.. I don't have null modem kable at hand right now. I'll see if I can get hold of one in the next days.xeno74 wrote:

Finally got around to rc-8. I think I never did try rc-7, though I did prepare it for testing.xeno74 wrote:Srtest wrote: @All

rc-8 seems to work OK. I am disappointed that I don't get wi-fi with it, but maybe that's an unrelated problem? Or does it have anything to do with
Code: Select all
hid-generic 0003:046D:052B.C003 device has no listeners, quitting
Lately, whatever newer kernel I use, right after "Started Braille Device Support" I get another attempt and failure to "Load Kernel Modules." Adds a bit of color to the notices.
