Linux often throws up errors when booting.

Booted OK with my Ubuntu Live installation. So far so good. Audio, video and 3D graphics acceleration all working OK with my Radeon HD6870 card.

Vmlinux-3.14-rc2 used with the Live Remix DVD does not show the on-board sound device and hence no sound output on my system.

Strange, the Vmlinux-3.14-rc2 kernel work fine with my on-board Audio and my Live Ubuntux remix HDD installation?

Sorry, my HDD installation is from the DVD; the sound device shows up with kernels 3.10, 3.12 & 3.13, but not 3.14-rc2.

So that means you are booting off the DVD with the 3.14-rc2 kernel on a CF card? (or USB stick)

That's strange. I've tested the RC 2 with Ubuntu 10.04.4, Lubuntu 12.04.4, and with Lubuntu 14.04 and the sound works very well. But I'm very curious why it doesn't work for you. Is another sound card installed in your A1-X1000?

No, I did my HDD install from the Remix DVD, rather than one of the other (difficult) methods. And the Kernel in on the CF card.

Oops! Yes there is a SoundBlaster left over from the OS4.1 pre-AudioHD days. It doesn't seem to interfere with the other kernels, though.
