AROS hosted on an AmigaOne X1000:
AROS hosted
Re: AROS hosted
LOL I never thought I'd see an AROS topic pop up on the AmigaOS support forum. Attack of the clones!
Cool trick but let's try to keep things focused on Linux. I am already getting some flack for the Linux Only forums.

@ssolie
If you ever need supporting testimony, I am willing to "testify" on behalf of the X1000 for all it can do. I have owned only Amiga computers since 1987. [I do use many computers for work and when helping friends and family.]
I have a project at work which is begging for a not difficult, but tedious port to Linux. I was/am greatly attracted to the idea of getting support from higher ups at work to allow me to do this at home. *My* intention is to do it with my X1000. No intel on my desk, no special separate Linux computer sharing resources via a dual port monitor, or, shudder the thought, a 2nd monitor, 2nd keyboard, 2nd mouse, more cables. Blah!
I view this effort as completely championing Amiga.

Looks like a clever distraction! The hard work and ingenuity of the Linux guys always amazes me.ssolie wrote:LOL I never thought I'd see an AROS topic pop up on the AmigaOS support forum. Attack of the clones!

So far I have made a conscious effort to keep my Amiga purely for AmigaOS4. However, not having a mainstream desktop in my house often means that I am faced with a computing task that AmigaOS cannot resolve. Personally as an Amiga fan I have grown to accept these shortcomings. But it is irritating when my Wife complains that the Amiga has frozen or wont display or play content from internet site X, closely followed by my Son who reminds me that his £100 tablet can.

I suspect the flak for the Linux forums is down to the fact that searching for new threads on the AmigaOS support forum results in a huge number of Linux only problems.

Re: AROS hosted
Short answer. The setup is very simple.ggw wrote:@xeno74
If you have discussed that setup elsewhere, tell me where.
1.) Download: AROS-20131123-linux-ppc-system.tar.bz2
2.) Extract the archive with tar jxvf AROS-20131123-linux-ppc-system.tar.bz2
3.) cd AROS-20131123-linux-ppc-system/linux
4.) ./AROSBootstrap -m 1024 (1024MB RAM for AROS hosted)
Note: This is not a nativ AROS installation. Therefore this not a AROS topic. This is a Linux topic. With AROS hosted you can run AROS PPC applications on Linux. AROS hosted is a Linux application.

Re: AROS hosted
Do you want AEROS for your A1-X1000?
Please write your interest in the following thread on: http://amigaworld.net. Just for info: This is a Linux thread. AEROS is a Linux distribution.

I have figured out, that OpenGL (OpenGL bridge) has wrong colors on AROS hosted PowerPC. Unfortunately there isn't the driver hidd.gallium.radeon available for the AmigaOne X1000 with the Radeon HD graphics card. We have only the Gallium 0.4 softpipe driver on AROS hosted. nVidia graphics cards doesn't work with the A1-X1000.

What is AEROS?
AEROS is a hybrid distribution of AROS (http://www.aros.org) and Linux (in the moment debian 6.0 for X86 and 7.0 for ARM is used) available for ARM and x86 systems.
If there is enough interest we can start also an PPC branch. The audience may decide ; )

What did you do to get Aros to boot with network support. Is the boot command or the network setup in Aros.
