Hi Trevor,

Could you test STK on another desktop e.g. LXDE, please?

Downloaded STK on my old MintPPC installation and tested under LXDE. Could not get it to run at all? Obviously doing something stupid?

Now going to try on my old Debian Wheezy installation.

Side Note: since the development of the Live Ubuntu Remix DVD I rarely use the other Distro for my Linux fix.

Hello Trevor,

Which version of Glibc is installed on Linux Mint? Have you seen any error messages?

All the best,

Trevor,

Which kernel do you use for Linux Mint? It's very important to know a few things.

- Version of Glibc
- Kernel version
- Error messages if you start STK with ./run_game.sh on the konsole/terminal/shell

Tested under MintPPC (System monitor says Debian 7.2 (wheezy) 32 bits, kernel 3.9.0, works very well.

~/supertuxkart-0.8.1-test-svn14394-altivec-linux-glibc2.13-ppc $ uname -a
Linux AmigaoneX1000 3.9.0X1000 #1 SMP Thu May 2 21:56:23 CEST 2013 ppc64 GNU/Linux

I remembered some freezes sometimes in earlier versions.
Now, just playing for 30minutes with my son without crash !

Thanks

Hi all,

Just for info. I've created a SuperTuxKart 0.8 backport from the OpenPandora port (http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detai ... rt-ptitseb) for some weaker PowerPC/AltiVec computers.

v0.8.0.03
------------
  • Reduce size of more texture
  • Reduce LOD of objects on tracks when possible
  • downsized all biggest texture, adapted a few dialog boxes
  • forced low-res mesh for items when available

We are proud to announce the release of SuperTuxKart version 0.8.1 for the AmigaOne X1000.

This release includes the following features:
* New track 'STK Enterprise'
* Updated tracks 'Old Mine', 'Around the Lighthouse' and 'Zen Garden'
* New modes 'Soccer' and 'Egg Hunt'
* New karts 'Xue' and 'Sara'
* Updated 'Beastie' kart
* Added tutorial
* Added new 'SuperTux' difficulty
* New bubblegum shield defensive weapon
* New combined speedometer and nitro meter
* Added ability to filter add-ons
* Updated nitro models
* Added ability to save and resume Grand Prix
* Improved skid marks and particle effects

It has taken us a rather long time for a minor release, but most of the developers have been rather busy with mentoring students for the “Google Summer of Code 2013”. On the other hand, we had many contributions from new developers: Dawid Gan tirelessly fixed bugs, making 0.8.1 the minor release with most bug fixes. Johannesr1 added shield functionality to bubblegum. Xenux added filtering of add-ons, Glenn De Jonghe saving of a Grand Prix (just abort a Grand Prix at the beginning of a race, later then restart the same Grand Prix again). Funto and Mohammad Al-Ghannam added a multi-player soccer mode.
