Help / Developer menu

Post by djrikki »

Hello,

I think that there should be Help and Developer menus added to the Workbench.

HELP:

It could include local links to AmigaGuide files or otherwise that reside on the system partition of most relevance to the end-user, and in addition have remote links to at the very least http://www.amigaos.net.
Potentially you could have a 'News' menu item here as well with a link to blog.hyperion-entertainment.biz.

DEVELOPER:

This would be enabled or disabled through an existing preference tool (disabled by default) and perhaps the SDK must be installed as well?
When enabled this would include local links to AmigaGuide files or otherwise that reside on the system partitiion of most relevance to a developer, and in addition have remote links to at the very least wiki.amigaos.net.

AND FINALLY:

There is no reason why the first menu could not have a link to Hyperion's website.

in addition to that a "report a bug" menu would be nice... or at least a tool in sys:system.

that should allow the user to send for example an email (or create a BZ entry somewhere) with automatically adding some system information like machine, version of os/kernel, grimreaper trace, ...

regards...

Thats what the forum is here for, if i got that right

If you got a crash, all the information is already in the grim log.
An automated mail system would only produce lots of mails against already known bugs in a not yet released versions (hence the forum where devs can state).

Too much overhead if you ask me (at least in this state of the OS)
