Using Parthenope may be easier to get started with.
You can replace SLB with Parthenope without refromating or any other changes to your hard drive .
At Boot time it will give you a menu of the Partitions that it can boot from, either OS 4.1 or Linux.
You can even boot linux from a SFS partition once it is set properly.

You need a /boot directory
With a a menu.lst file in it. The format is something like this

default 0
delay 10

title l Debian On Sam440ep-Flex
kernel /sam440ep/uImage console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0 flex
initrd /sam440ep/uRamdisk

What this symlink is useful for? For you maybe as it's not used by Parthenope.
Then it should work. :-/

I think you should try now on a blank disk to see if it works and then modify this setup to match your original disk setup.

No, with Parthenope the menu.lst must be at the root of the partition (not inside a "boot" directory).
I explained it at the top of my old tutorial

Thanks for the correction.
too much rust on my brain on this one.
I did manage to get Debian Squeeze installed on my Flex some months ago by following your article and making a few adjustments here and there.

in a previous post you described a seperate partition for /boot needing to have another boot folder

I do not have extra disks or time to waste on such things

I am using a single / & /boot partition with /home as a separate partition

as previously explained slb and parthenope both fail to properly display any other OS

slb shows and boots AmigaOS
parthenope directly boots linux

I have *never* seen any form of selection with both Amiga and Linux OS on the same menu

If a full description of my current setup is ignored I take that as an admission of ignorance

@Spectre please read earlier posts before re-suggesting options that are already known failures

Please re-read this thread again from the start and please point out anything you have given that was new and not going to need radical destructive repartitioning or reformating my Amiga installation

I have given and repeated the information required

When I had my Linux working Parthenope would show four boot options in the Boot Menu. Two OS 4.1 partitions and two Linux options. One of these on a SFS/00 partition and one on a Linux partition.

But if i remember you have a custom hardisk partition setup. so maybe this is the problem.

1st disk is RDB prepared with
Workbench, Reservation, Linux, Work and Workspace partitions
SFS/02, SFS/02, Ext2, SFS/02 and JXFS

the Workbench and Linux partitions on the first disk only are the boot selections I want

2nd disk is PC-MBR prepared pulled from an amd64 box
with single reiserfs and single fat32 partitions

What is funky about asking to enable booting the linux partition as an option with slb?

@Spectre do you hbve any further destructive suggestions to impart?
or will you read all of the details before trolling further
as parthenope was already discussed and dismissed as unsuitable it lacks sfs/02 support which is something I am need

the second disk is irrelevant to this discussion which I also believe negates any claim of funky partitioning as well

Will you switch to ad hominem trolling here and elsewhere?
