I'm glad you are now enjoying the benefits of 3D hardware accelerated graphics on your AmigaONE X1000.

Hi TJamigasociety wrote:@ PatW
I would love to have Ubuntu 12.04 running on the X1000.
Will there become an easy install option for us Linus newbies to install it or do we have to go through all these special steps you had to do?

I think it may not be possible to play 1080p smoothly.. There is an option in VLC to use GPU acceleration - maybe that will make a difference?tommysammy wrote:How did i get 1080p videos working?
They work but not absolut smooth
With Mplayer2 Sound and Video do not match
With VLC i get massive gfx errors
Hi Kensundown wrote:@PatW
Wow, I never would have figured all that out.
Got it all in & now getting 1700 fps with glxgears.
Is there an option for a HD 4850 card or any others? I figure the 4650 & 4850 are close.
Back to using vmlinux39, even got blender to run, but not sure it's running right. The benchmark doesn't give me a dual core option or render time. Something to work on.
Thanks Pat & Trevor for not giving up on me.

Once Pat finishes his Ubuntu installation instructions I'll issue an update to the guide.amigasociety wrote:@ PatW

It's not only 'special steps' to install various distros, it is also the subtle differences among distros. For example the Apache web server in Fedora keeps all it's configure info in one file, httpd.conf, while Debian breaks this up into several files. Although the configuration may be the same for both, how you arrive at that point is very different (for doing the same thing).amigasociety wrote:@ PatW
