Partitioning goof

Post by kilaueabart »

I did something stupid that killed my 20220129 version of Void. When I was checking things out in GParted I noticed that the stats for the partition where I had installed my new Spark version of Fienix seemed off. Size 98.18 GiB, Used 5.51 GiB, Unused 24.07 GiB! Why wasn't Unused = Size - Used?

I thought I should have resized it after dd'ing, so I proceded to try to do so. But GParted refused to high-light the Resize button until I indicated a change to make, so I felt forced to shorten it by "1" whatever. Now the arithmetic makes sense, but I have a 1.99 MiB unallocated patch between the Spark and the Void partitions that I can't seem to do anything with. Like maybe get rid of it.

No big deal, I guess, but I'm hoping someone might be willing to teach me a little about managing my hard drive.

It seems that the file system is smaller than the partition.
You need to use the command e2fsck -f and then resize2fs from another Linux distribution.

Running Linux on AmigaONEs can require some tinkering.

in the past i have used the Check option from within Gparted several times. It does the Resize stuff for you .
