Problems when updating MIntPPC!

Post by Roland »

I encountered serious problems when trying to update MintPPC using synaptic!

I got these errors:

Code: Select all

Setting up locales (2.32-4) ...
dpkg: error processing package locales (--configure):
installed locales package post-installation script subprocess was killed by signal (Illegal instruction)
Setting up apparmor (3.0.3-4) ...
dpkg: error processing package apparmor (--configure):
installed apparmor package post-installation script subprocess was killed by signal (Illegal instruction)
Setting up ca-certificates (20211016) ...
dpkg: error processing package ca-certificates (--configure):
installed ca-certificates package post-installation script subprocess was killed by signal (Illegal instruction)
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of aspell:
 aspell depends on dictionaries-common; however:
Package dictionaries-common is not configured yet.

dpkg: error processing package aspell (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 dictionaries-common
 iproute2
 locales
 apparmor
 ca-certificates
 aspell
How can I correct the problems?! Trying to remove the problematic pacakges does not work, Synaptic just gives similar error messages.

I do not understand why Synaptic/Apt does not check whether the update is really doable before it starts the process...?

Hi Roland,

I have the same issues on Debian 11 PPC64 on my X1000. Unfortunately I don't have a solution currently.

Cheers,
Christian

Running Linux on AmigaONEs can require some tinkering.

That's sad to hear... I also noticed that the Mate menu in toolbar did not anymore appear, so the attempt to update handicapped the whole system badly. It was not even possible to remove the problematic components anymore.

I switched back to an early MintPPC installation for which I made only some very selected updates.,, On the bright side, VLC's menus still work normally with this installation!
