Thanks! Does xbps 'archive' the downloaded packages on HD? If yes, is there some way to do a cleanup, just like with apt?
BTW, I tested the GTK+ Pipe Viewer for YouTube on Void today. It works well and it is a good alternative way to watch YouTube videos.
How did you install it? Is it available also for MintPPC?

Edit: I was able to install it to Void with the following command:

sudo xbps-install -S pipe-viewer

But also I have the problem that VLC opens and closes itself if trying to run videos. But copying the link with ViewTube and running it with VLC from terminal works normally (so, this is not a graphics board issue).

Yes, it downloads the packages on the HD. It's possible to remove packages from /var/cache/xbps manually.

I installed it with "xbps-install gtk-straw-viewer". I haven't found it in Debian based distributions yet.

It works with VLC with the latest Void img on my X5000. Maybe you need to configure VLC.

Amiguy wrote: Tue Oct 12, 2021 12:27 pm Very interesting ! I installed Pipe-viewer, but am not able to view the videos. When I select a video in Pipe-viewer, VLC opens in full screen, then closes without playing the video. How to assign the video to Interweb?

(Sorry, apparently I am no longer allowed to attach a screenshot ...)
Which graphics card is installed in your X5000?

Unfortunately you can't use hardware acceleration for videos and games. You can try to tweak the VLC settings. Please try to configure VLC.

Video playback and hardware 3D acceleration work well with RadeonHD 4xxx, 5xxx, and 6xxx graphics cards.

The best graphics card for Linux PPC is the Radeon HD 6990. I use Radeon HD 6970 graphics cards in my AmigaOnes.

The problem is, that means you have to change cards every time you switch from Amiga to Linux and vice versa :(

I run all the updates for Void... Now VLC does not exit immediately after pipe-viewer has evoked it but seems to load the video link and change it's window to the maximum size, but after that it exits.

There is always this error message in the terminal:

VLC media player 3.0.16 Vetinari (revision 3.0.13-8-g41878ff4f2)
libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate
LLVM ERROR: Relocation type not implemented yet!
Aborted

What does that mean? vlcrc does not have either DR12 or LLVM mentioned.

BTW, the problem with some of the VLC menus (also causing VLC to exit) is still present.

Does hardware 3D acceleration work?

No, as I have currently a R7 240 in this machine.

But I got now the streams running also via pipe-viewer! It looks like the VLC update overwrote today my customized vlcrc, so that videos did not run anymore from HD, either. So, after all the updates pipe-viewer seems to work now.

Attention:
@Amiguy

Please try to set in vlc's Video settings "Output" to "X11 video output (XBC)"
