Isn't there a risk that the Linux disk tools may damage the RDB or Amiga partitions, or that Media Toolbox do the same for Linux partitions, if they try to 'correct' the peculiarities they find from the 'foreign' partitions?
You don’t need the Media Toolbox. You only need free space on the HD with RDB. Linux can create a partition in this free space. There aren’t any known issues.
I tried now to create an Linux partition (ext4, primary) with GParted on a RDB disk, at the end of the free place... But the operation was refused, with this error message cascade:

Create Primary Partition #1(ext4,9.77Gib) on dev/sda >create empty partition >libparted messages >Unable to satisfy all constrains on the partition

Also trying to copy a Linux partition from another disk was unsuccesfull, with the same error message.

What is the problem? (I already tried to leave 1MB free space after the partition but that did not help)

I don't know what the problem is.

Parted supports RDB disks: https://fossies.org/linux/parted/libparted/labels/rdb.c

I use Debian on a RDB disk in my AmigaOne X1000:

Please try to create a partition with the command "parted".

It seems, that only installation programs don't have any problems with RDB disks.

How do you place the new partition correctly with Parted? The syntax shown with 'Parted -h' is:

mkpart PART-TYPE [FS-TYPE] START END

What 'unit' is used in 'START' and 'END'? And how do you set the alignment to MB? There was not MB listed in the alignment options for new partitions.

Is Parted totally 'safe' in the sence that it will not create new partitions over already existing ones, or is it possible to cause a disaster if you define the starting and ending points wrong, so that the new partition would overlap an amiga partition?

BTW, isn't GParted just a graphical front-end to Parted? Then it is incomprehensible if it cannot do the same as Parted.

I only installed Debian behind the Amiga partitions. It seems, that the Debian installer doesn't have any problems with creating partitions on RDB disks.

But you said that also Parted works...? Or was that just a 'theoretical' assumption? Could you please give the needed instructions how to use it correctly? Thank you!-)

No, I wrote "Please try to create a partition with the command parted.". I only installed Debian behind the Amiga partitions on the RDB disk. More not.

Ok, I misunderstood... Sorry for wasting your precious time by asking instructions for a program you are not familiar with :-(.

I will try to ask help for Parted from some other place.
