Spectre660 uses a SATA 3 controller (Marvel 88SE9215 chipset) Link.

Running Linux on AmigaONEs can require some tinkering.

Thanks for the tip! @Sepctre, if you are reading this, what model are you using? Is it pci-e x1?

I am also considering this model from Delock:

https://www.delock.com/produkte/S_89389/merkmale.html

Has anyone tested it? It has both Sata3 and USB3, which would spare space, and it is pci-e x1. There is also a x4 version from Delock, but due to the location of x4 slot in X5000 there might be heat problems as the graphics board would be just beside.

Yes, he uses the pci-e x1 model.

Ok - sorry, I read carelessly the link... But I'm surpriced if you self don't use a Sata3 controller?! As a maintainer of this Amiga Linux/Kernel business, you must do a lot of testing and reboot your machine continuously... Do you have the nerves for waiting the 'slow' Sata2 disks to boot ?-)

For the record it is the past tense . Used.
I no longer have an X5000.

The SATA III card model that I used was this one :

Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card

I remember that incident... I'm very sorry for it :-(.

Thanks! Was it working without any issues...?

@ Roland

Yes it was working without any issues .
Was using a Samsung 250GB Sata drive connected to it for Linux .

I got some information from the customer service of Delock... They said their combined Sata/USB cards (Delock 89359 and 89389)
are already quite old and they cannot guarantee their compatibility with Linux. They are also heat sensitive, so the x4 model is out of question in X5000.

Instead, they recommended a newer Sata3 pcie x1 card (without USB) which has Raid and should also work with Linux:

https://www.delock.de/produkte/1118_int ... anguage=en

It has a Marvell chip which Spectre has already tested succesfully.

I ordered now one... (They can be found from German dealers, like 'Jacob'). I will report later how it works !-).

I got this yesterday... Working ok with Linux!-)

While booting MintPPC took earlier 20 sec (from 'Switch on' to Uboot menu) + 25 sec (loading/executing kernel from BootSD) + 65 sec (the rest of the boot process, from a WD 1TB mechanical HD/onboard Sata2) = 110 sec totally, now it takes only 20 sec + 25sec + 30 sec (from OWC Mercury Electra 6G SSD/Delock Sata3) = 75 sec.

But the difference in boot time between Sata2 and Sata3 controller with the same SSD was nominal, only 2-3 secs. I suppose the limiting factor with a SSD is the CPU/RAM speed... It would be interesting to know the boot time of a X5000/40!
