Are the driver modules for these chip sets active in the latest 5.10 version: ASM 1042, ASM 1061 and ASM 1182?
I will soon get a combined Sata/USB board which uses those ASM chips.

Yes, they are active but I don’t know if these cards work.

Just for info:

ASM 1042: XHCI USB3

ASM 1061: AHCI SATA (IDE/AHCI mode) if you have some issues then try setenv bootargs “blacklist=pata_acpi …”.

ASM 1182: Bridge PCIe x1 Gen2 to 2 PCIe (Packet switch)
Maybe
CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI
CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_S

Thanks for the info! I will report how it works...

I will soon get a combined Sata/USB board which uses those ASM chips.
I got now the card (https://www.delock.com/produkt/89389/merkmale.html?f=s), and at first glance both the Sata and USB controller are working with LInux/kernel 5.10.

When testing the Sata controller with a 6G cabable SSD using 'Disks' tool, the read speed (200 MB/s) do not reach the results I got earlier with a separate Sata3 controller (400 MB/s) with the same disk. That would suggest the controller is now working only in Sata2 and not in Sata3 mode. Can you guess any reason for that, and a possible fix...?

I already tested the bootarg you suggested (blacklist=pata_acpi) but it did not have effect on the Sata speed.

Hi Roland,

Great that it works! :-)

Unfortunately I don’t have any experiences with SATA and USB controller PCIe cards but I have found these instructions:

How to Change SATA Mode in Ubuntu

The problem seems not to be there as diagnostics tools suggest that both 'ahci' and SATA 3 are already in use:

Thanks - it works ok!

Is it worth the effort to report bugs in 5.10, or is it better to do it only for the latest main version? Where should you do it nowadays? I have in mind a bug which forces to use the "mem=3500M" boot poarameter with certain expansion cards. I thought this kind of kernel issues were solved earlier for good...
