I feel safe in so confirming, with one caveat. Due to suddenly not being able to use Synaptic in soar Fienix I tried an older version I have on disk, running kernel 5.5.11. I could not get on line with it and had to replug my internet line into the "TP LINK" thing. (I then successfully marked upgraded things on Synaptic and installed them, so I went for the gnucash that Casey had made available there, and Synaptic quit working again.)

I thought I should check to see that ETH0 still works on the newer Fienix again before I did this reply, and it worked there, then I though what about Ubuntu?, and yes it works fine here too.

Thanks for confirming that your ethernet adapter is also working fine.
Are you using this adapter as your primary adapter now ??

I can't use TP-LINK, assuming it is an adapter, without a cable plugged in, so yes, one-cable Bart is using only Wired connection 2, aka eth0, as his primary adapter. Not sure how I could use more than one at a time. I do have wi-fi connected, but I don't think that counts.

Uhh.... to be sure that you are using the ETH0 device you should disable all other network adapters.
Who needs WiFi anyway if a cable connection is present. :-) Using a cable is usually more stable and faster.

If'n you mean wi-fi is another network adapter, I often don't remember to turn it on (in fienix it doesn't seem to come on automatically, although I think it often does in Ubuntu). I am not using wi-fi at the moment, only "Wired connection 2."

I don't fully trust my cable internet. A long cable extends from my daughter's modem downstairs through her kitchen, out the window, up the side of the house, into my upstairs apartment kitchen, where I plug it into one of those gizmos that connects the signal to house wiring, and I plug my router into the opposite gizmo on this side of my apartment. So far I haven't been able to get permission to get my own ISP. (The house wiring up here is pretty bad too, mostly ungrounded.)

"Wired connection 2" is still working fine in Fienix and Ubuntu, but OS4 doesn't see it. I get this message across the top of the screen:

Fri Aug 21 01:14:16 2020 [error]: Interface "interface.1" configuration failed with station address = 38:83:45:EE:F9:F3 (10,19, Driver is offline, Unit currently not connected).

I poked around for quite a while looking for a way to configure an interface.2, but no luck. I don't use the Amiga enough anymore, but I kept seeing all these neat things I used to use and it would be fun to remember how to use them again.

Hi,

Have you loaded the driver for the onboard ethernet adapter in AmigaOS named p50x0_eth.device as you can see at around second 17 of the movie i made a while back.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32l-hf0tw7s

Also if the driver is loaded in os4 the mac address would be: Hardware address = 00:50:C2:FF:FF:00 . it is hardcoded in the driver.

You can get the driver using Updater. Its part of the Enhancer software package.

Possibly not a bright thing to do, but I clicked on EnhancerSoftware and after reading the warning went ahead and said "yes" about everything. One surprising good result was that I can now use my regular keyboard to type in OS4. It had been ignoring my keystrokes for over a month, although I was still able to do a lot of stuff with the mouse.

But I haven't figured out yet how to get that p50x0_eth.device yet. I have six devices from 2014-15 but not that.
