I tried to install Spiderweb 2.2.2, but got the following error:

Code: Select all

Reading database ... 245520 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../spiderweb_2.2.2.fienix_powerpc.deb ...
Unpacking spiderweb (2.2.2.fienix) ...

trying to overwrite '/usr/share/doc/xul-ext-greasemonkey/CREDITS', which is also in package xul-ext-greasemonkey 3.10-fienix
dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/spiderweb_2.2.2.fienix_powerpc.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:

Processing triggers for mime-support (3.64) ...
Processing triggers for bamfdaemon (0.5.4-2) ...
Rebuilding /usr/share/applications/bamf-2.index...
Removing manually the 'CREDITS' file which was mentioned above did not help.

How to solve this issue?

The package xul-ext-greasemonkey 3.10-fienix doesn't exist anymore in the Fienix repository. Please try to remove it.

I tried, but removing it would also remove ArcticFox, which I would not like to do. I already lost Spiderweb as I removed the old version, but that did not help anything.

I removed it and after that I installed the static 10.04 package of Arctic Fox 27.10.1 successfully.

Thanks, that workaround works also here! Have again both SpiderWeb and ArcticFox available.

But I did not get Youtube to work anymore... When testing these two links, I was not able to reach videos anymore, got only a 'nonresponsive script' error from both browsers:

https://www.youtube.com/user/SkatingISU
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSoM5q ... STQ/videos

Updating ViewTube scripts did not have any effect on this issue.

Roland,

Please try the following installation instructions for SpiderWeb:
  1. Download the ViewTube v2 script
  2. Decompress the package and copy the folder gm_scripts to /home/<your user directory>/.wicknix/spiderweb/<profile directory>
    For example:

    Code: Select all

    cp -R gm_scripts /home/amigaone/.wicknix/spiderweb/xa4ue3g6.default/
  3. Restart SpiderWeb

That's exactly what I did but it has no effect! I cannot get via those two links any thumbnale list of videos, so maybe the problem is at higher level than VievTube itself? Do those links work for you, do you get a list of videos from which you can select something? Or some other user here?

Roland,

I tested your links with the latest versions of SpiderWeb, InterWeb, Arctic Fox, and OWB (MorphOS) today. Unfortunately I can't open your links with these web browsers.I think this is a Javascript issue. The YouTube start page works with all Linux PPC browsers. ViewTube works also with SpiderWeb, InterWeb, and Arctic Fox. On MorphOS I can watch YouTube videos as well but the YouTube start page doesn't work. But if I use spoof as "iPad" then I can open your links and the YouTube start page with OWB.

Please try the following User Agent String:

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 10_2_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/602.4.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0 Mobile/14D27 Safari/602.1
SpiderWeb: URL: about:config and then general.useragent.override.

Cheers,
Christian

Thank you very much for testing! I checked that spoofing 'iPad' works also with AmigaOS/Odyssey.
Please try the following User Agent String:

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 10_2_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/602.4.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0 Mobile/14D27 Safari/602.1
SpiderWeb: URL: about:config and then general.useragent.override.
That works also here - thank you very much for that solution!-) The same string worked also with ArcticFox and Interweb (general.useragent.override.youtube.com).

I was not aware that Javascript issues can be solved simply by spoofing... At least the Javascript code of my netbank does not work anymore with any of the spoofing options of Odyssey (latest beta has already quite a many of them). Maybe the webkit is just too old.

Some Hints on User Agents

Add-ons
I've tested two add-ons that make User Agent switching much easier:
1) The add-on "Sasuga" from the Basilisk Add-ons site gives a convenient way to save whatever User Agent you want to use on a per-site basis.
Image

2) The add-on "Use Agent Switcher" from the Classic Add-ons Archive will change the default User Agent. Keep in mind that if you have a per-site user agent saved the default will be overridden.

User Agents I Use and Why
1) facebook.com - Loads lighter, faster version and Messenger still works
Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16
2) mail.google.com - Loads standard/complete Gmail interface with full access to Settings
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.9
3) drive.google.com - Loads lighter, faster version
Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 10_2_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/602.4.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0 Mobile/14D27 Safari/602.1
4) youtube.com - Loads lighter, faster version
Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 10_2_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/602.4.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0 Mobile/14D27 Safari/602.1
5) blogger.com - Gives full access to tools
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.9
