The latest version of NGFS is 54.105 and fixes all the old "Can't mount" issues.
There is also a "Transitional" version 54.99 that is really NGF\01 but it can read NGF\00 volumes also, so you can copy your old NGF\00 volumes to new NGF\01 volumes and upgrade to the latest version.
The "interim" version issued with the X5000 ISO is now several years old and has been obsolete for a long time. I really recommend that everyone upgrade to the newer NGF\01 version. It is bug-free and has good performance.
I can help you with an upgrade package - just email or PM me.
The latest NGFS V54.100++ uses different disk structures, so older versions can't read it and vice versa. Furthermore, if your system boot volume is formatted with the old NGFS, then you won't be able to boot it unless you upgrade the firmware also.
I can't provide new firmware as it isn't mine; however there is a version of amigaboot.ub that will read and boot both the old and the new versions of NGFS. If you want to boot from a volume formatted with the newer NGFS, you will have to install the newer amigaboot.ub firmware. If your boot volume is FFS or SFS, then you need not worry about changing the firmware.
The old and the new NGFS versions can't read each other's data as it is so different. However, there is a special "Transitional" version V54.99 that is really the newer V54.105, but also can read the older NGFS data. It can't write to an old volume, but it can read it, allowing you to copy all your old NGF\00 volumes to new NGF\01 volumes.
If you have an X5000 with the "interim" NGF\00 version and you want to upgrade to the latest NGFS (DOSType NGF\01), then pm or email me and I'll help you. This offer is only for X5000 owners with the "interim" version, and the upgrade version I will send you will not run on any other platform.

Hi Tony,
It will it be released also for other users (sam, a1, peg2 etc) or is it dedicated only to x5000 users?
I ask because many of us never got it, neither the old versions released years ago
