Multi boot compatible SATA cards

I've been looking for a compatible SATA card that allows for multi boot of the various compatible OSes for the X5000 as well as allow me to have an optical drive hooked up. I guess my target is to have four devices attaches at once (3x SSD and 1x Optical). Is there a recommended compatible card that will let me achieve this goal?

Same here, I need a PCIe SATA card since my PCI slots is occupied by soundcard and Catweasel.
Any pointers to available, compatible cards is appreciated.

Unfortunately there is none... X5000 cannot be booted directly from any other Sata drives than those connected to the two onboard connectors. There is no driver support in U-boot for any pci/pcie Sata card.

For Linux there is fortunately a handy workaround. You can create on X5000's BootSD a small FAT partition and place there kernel(s) and other files needed for the initial boot steps. After Kernel has been loaded from there, you can access any Sata card supported in Linux kernel (there is plenty of them!), and continue by loading the root filesystem from there.

The optimal arrangement is thus to start AmigaOS and MorphOS from drives connected to the motherbard Sata2 connectors, and Linux from a drive connected to a fast Sata3 pcie card. Unfortunately almost all Sata cards are totally incompatible with AmigaOS and MorphOS (there are no drivers), and those few ancient models for which there is a Kickstart driver module are Sata1 only, and thus hopelessly slow and not suitable for running modern Linux distros. This means that drives connected to a Sata2/3 card are NOT accessible from AmigaOS/MorphOS but only from Linux.

do a google search for "10-port sil-3114" it will give hits for pci-e cards, if you search for sil-3114 or sil-3112 you will get pci cards, the 10-ports costs roughly 1200 sek.

It might also be a good idea to search with "sii" instead of "sil". The correct name is SiI, where the two letters Si are the chemical symbol for Silicon, and the final I (upper case i) stands for Image, i.e. Silicon Image, the company's name.

But since this mistake is often made, I'd make both searches.

It is wisest to use a FAT32 partition for kernel files (instead of the Ext4 suggested in the original 'recipe') as it can be accessed easier when copying files on it (no need to act as 'root'). And of course make a backup of the BootSD on a second SD card before you do anything else .

But want to clarify PCIe, pciE cards not PCI cards.

My PCI ports are full with a Juli@ soundcard and a Catweasel MKIV+
