Here is the guide:

viewtopic.php?f=58&t=3707

It is wisest to use a FAT32 partition for kernel files (instead of the Ext4 suggested in the original 'recipe') as it can be accessed easier when copying files on it (no need to act as 'root'). And of course make a backup of the BootSD on a second SD card before you do anything else ;-).

In this thread there are a few words about suitable Sata3 controllers:

Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction! SATA card arrived. Wish me luck.

Great! I hope you get it working :-). My Delock board has worked so far without issues.

Maybe I should buy a new PCIe soundcard and free up a PCI slot for a SATA card?

What do you have in the second PCI slot? If it is network adapter, there are available inexpensive PCIe Gigabit ethernet cards which are compatible with all the three OS available for X5000. I have to use such for Linux as the onboard ethernet controller has atill the unsolved 'unplug/replug' problem.

Catweasel MKIV+ in one PCI slot and that card is staying in that slot. :D
If I could find a Juli@ PCIe soundcard it would solve the other occupied PCI port,
love this soundcard with RCA/Tele switchable outputs, allergic to those other cards with 3,5mm outputs.

PM me on amigans.net, mate...you just found one ;-)
