I am seriously thinking of jumping to a X5000 as my daily driver, and I wish to know if the following is compatible.

1) ASUS STX II 7:1 sound card in 5:1 mode

2) Canon LIDE 220 usb scanner

3) Brother HL-L8260CSW networked printer.

4) ASUS, yes another one, 27" 144hz monitor

5) Xbox One usb controller

I won't ask about my Nvidia GPU 8-) Only 3.

1. No, there is no official driver available for that sound card.
2. No, there is no official driver available for scanners.
3. Yes, if the printer talks Postscript 2 or 3, it will work OK. If it's one of those Brothers that depend on the host for software, then no, there is no support for "stupid" printers.
4. Depends on the graphics card you buy for the machine. See the list of compatible Radeon HD cards on Hans' site.
5. Don't know what the XBox controller is supposed to do. Is it a joystick sort of thing? If so, parts of it might be usable.

Don't expect a modern Amiga to be able to play games like a PC, using PC-centric hardware components.

1) damn shame about that

2)Arggggh

3) As far as I can tell level 3

4) Phew, as I do not really want to buy another monitor

5) Dual joystick controlling piece of hardware with twin joysticks plus buttons on the pad

I have never and will never expect the Amiga to play like PC based games

2. There might be a third party scanner driver for this one, try searching e.g. OS4Depot.net.

3. That should work, then. I'm using an HP Color Laser Jet Enterprise M552 with Postscript as a network printer. You will need a small third party thing to talk to it over the network. I use lpr.device, but there's also one called netprinter, IIRC.

Best regards,

Niels
