There are two device drivers written for the X-5000 and A-1222 machines. The first one released was written by a third party, not by Hyperion, and it uses a fixed MAC address.

The Hyperion device driver correctly reads the MAC addresses from the board and uses them properly.

But was that one released to the public?

I've never heard it before, so maybe it was only mentioned in the Linux part of the world.

Now, the next question: how the hell do we program the EEPROM with the missing values?

I do wish we had some proper hardware documentation...
There are two options....

The mac command has several options, one of them is supposed to save data to the eeprom. (But it didn't work when I tried it)

The other may be more up your street Tony, a quick check of the Cyrus-TRM shows that the eeprom is attached to I2C bus 0. Linux has tools for writing to I2C, but I don't want to mess with it as it contains other information too. (Erreta and build data)

Talk to Matthew, he should know more.

a sudden silence covers the whole room.
all eyes, of the few visitors that this infamous inn still frequent, turn towards aperezbios
somewhere in the kitchen shatters a glass
the barkeep slowly polishes his counter with an outstanding dirty rug and fixates a point 30 inches above aperezbios head
a voice is heard, mumbling, deep and full of fear
it emanates from a shadow soaked corner in the back alcove
"Do Not..."
aperezbios tries hard to understand the mumbling
"Do not, Boyo.."
"Do not what?" aperezbios asks, leaving his chair and approaching the corner
a weathered face with deep black eyes looks up to aperezbios
"Do not wake them, Boyo!"
"Who is them? What are you talking about?"
the old man takes a deep breath and a sad expression covers his face

"Never...never ever ask for a release date, Boyo!"
People are dying.

We are in the beginning of a mass extinction.
And all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth.
How dare you!
