Sam460ex 4.5-rc4 kernel and new xorg.conf
With this kernel and the new xorg.conf I seem to get 2D acceleration with a Radeon HD 7750
under Ubuntu-Mate 16.04.

This one should auto select and install the proper Ubuntu-Mate Desktop down to themes and Ubuntu-Welcome as well as installing the Xorg.conf and 4.4.0 modules.
So no software selection screen is shown during the installation.

I have tried installing Ubuntu MATE 16.04 using your latest ISO on my Sam460ex.
First time I had a kernel crash during installation, the second time all went just fine. The second time I opened the case, might have a heating problems as the CPU does not have a fan.
Rebooted and MATE was there, but with no graphic accelleration, as usual.
Then I've tried the kernel 4.5-rc4, as you mentioned 2D hardware acceleration was kind of working, but so far had not luck with it. It still failing the "ring 0" test (what the hell is that?!?!), and the kernel switched to shadowfb for KMS.
Then tried the 4.4.3 kernel too, all works, but no 2D GPU acceleration.

I have a Radeon HD R7 250E (same as 7750), the kernel load the "TAHITI_vce.bin" firmware.
Using the "xorg.conf" as it is provided by your ISO.
Did you customize anything specif in order to have 2D graphic acceleration with kernel 4.5rc4?

Thinking on definitely giving up my Sam460, and start saving for the X5000...

Sorry.I have misrepresented the 2D. It is still using fbdev.
I had to revert back to my original xorg.conf. The one that I linked to wont work now with the 4.5-rc6 kernel and the updated Ubuntu-Mate .

FYI: There is an issue with the downloaded components while the installation of ubuntu MATE with the initrds. Spectre660 will release some installation ISOs. These ISOs will have the correct working components for installing ubuntu MATE 16.04.
